Why?
How?
Our Mission
#WeRTheFuturee
Bridging the G.A.P is a girls mentoring program whose mission is to cultivate healthy minds, while instilling essential life skills.
Our History
#ItTakesAVillage
Bridging the G.A.P derived from a nonprofit, Fostering Foundations for the Future that was organized in 2019. FFFF was an organization that served the parents and youth by providing free food, mental health and wellness seminars, ppe materials, free tutoring and more. One of our loved volunteers, Bridgette focused on the mental health spectrum within the organization.
Bridgette's desire was to establish a girls mentoring program, because she had a great passion for younger children. So did the founder, Kris Elaine. Bridgette later began to suffer from her own mental illness, and later passed away before organizing the girls group.
January 2021, Bridging the G.A.P (Girls.Aiming.for.Prestige) was founded in her honor! Kris And Bridgette both understand the importance of having a healthy mental to properly function in everyday tasks.
Kris educates the mentees from experience and education. Kris herself struggled with mental health as an adolescent, but wasn't able to properly identify the issue. That is pretty common within minority communities. Living in despair, but not being able to properly recognize or identify your emotions. Not being provided equitable health care and education to conquer our mental. Many factors contribute to an unhealthy mind such as, financial needs, crowded housing, lack of resources, childhood trauma, and more!
Bridging the G.A.P will help our Bridgettes and their family build and maintain a healthy life, and it will reflect positively in many other ways.
We believe, "It takes a village," and we ARE that village!
